What we keep about you, why we keep it, and what you can do about it.

Last updated September 29, 2026

The short version

  • We keep what we need to book and run your rides, take payment and keep everyone safe.
  • We never sell your information.
  • Your card number goes to Stripe. We only keep the card brand and the last four digits.
  • We use essential cookies only: no advertising or tracking cookies.
  • You can see, correct and delete your information.

What we collect

  • Your account: name, phone number, email, date of birth (optional) and a photo (optional).
  • Your rides: pickup and destination, times, who is riding, and the notes you write for your driver.
  • Your needs and coverage: the kind of help you use, and the insurance plan and member ID you add. Paying with insurance is coming soon; for now we only keep what you add.
  • Payment: the card brand, last four digits and expiry of a saved card, and what you paid. Not the full number.
  • Messages between you and your driver about a ride.
  • Location: the place you choose, or where your device is when you tap Use my current location. Drivers share their position during a trip so you can follow them.
  • For drivers: identity and screening documents, vehicle details and photos, and payout details held by Stripe.
  • If you book as a guest: the name, phone number and email you give us.

Notes and mobility needs can be about your health. We use them only to help your driver and to match your ride, and only people involved in the ride can see them.

Why we use it

  • To book, price, assign and run your rides, and to send you updates about them.
  • To take payment and give refunds.
  • To keep Customers and drivers safe, and to check that drivers are approved.
  • To answer your questions and fix problems.
  • To follow the law, keep accurate records and prevent fraud.

Who sees it

  • Your driver sees your pickup, destination and notes, your first name and, while the ride is coming up, the phone number to reach you.
  • You see your driver's name, photo, vehicle and phone number once they accept.
  • Other people on a Crew+ trip see first names only.
  • Our payment provider (Stripe), and the services that send our texts and emails, handle the details they need to do their job.
  • Google Maps Platform draws our maps and finds addresses. It receives what you type into an address search, and the map areas you look at.
  • If you sign in with Google or Apple, that company tells us your name and email and knows that you signed in to Rove. We never see your Google or Apple password.
  • We share information with authorities only when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

We don't sell your information and we don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account for as long as you have it. Ride and payment records are kept for as long as we need them for receipts, disputes, tax and legal reasons, and are then removed. Messages stay with the ride they belong to.

When you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal details. We may keep records we're required to keep, without the details we don't need.

Cookies and storage

Rove uses only essential cookies and browser storage. They keep you signed in, remember a booking you haven't finished, and keep the site working. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, so there's nothing to switch off.

Your rights

  • Access: see what we have about you in your profile, or ask us for a copy.
  • Correct: change your details any time in your profile.
  • Delete: delete your account from your profile (Profile, then Delete account). You'll be asked to type DELETE and tell us why.
  • Guests: email us and we'll find and delete a guest booking for you.
  • Ask: write to us with any question about your information.

Keeping it safe

We protect your information with sign-in codes, private ride links and limits on who can see what. No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you.

Age

Rove accounts are for people 18 and over. A parent or guardian can book a ride for a child by booking for someone else.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll say so here and update the date at the top.

Write, call or visit us and we'll be glad to help.
